CINCINNATI — The Bengals are down a star receiver as Tee Higgins left the game after being crunched between Minkah Fitzpatrick and Devin Bush. The injury is officially a concussion and Higgins will not return to the game.

Joe Burrow has thrown four interceptions thus far in the game, and the Bengals can use all the help they can get. Higgins’ injury complicates things in the receiving corps. Ja’Marr Chase and Tyler Boyd will have more pressure placed upon them to step up in his absence.

Before exiting the game, Higgins put up two receptions for 27 yards. He has quickly become one of Burrow’s dependable targets in his young career. The Clemson product has continued to improve each year, and 2022 should have been no different in that regard.

Concussions are tough, and Tee Higgins must clear all hurdles in order to return to the game. That includes rigorous tests that he must pass. As such, Higgins is out for the rest of the first half and is likely to return in the second half if he passes those tests. If he does not, Higgins will not be allowed to return until he clears all the steps during the week.

Moving forward, the Steelers still have plenty of work to do. It will be Michael Thomas stepping in for the Bengals alongside Chase and Boyd.
