The contract details have been revealed for the Pittsburgh Steelers deal with free agent running back Kenneth Gainwell — and he appears to be a steal.

The Steelers and Gainwell agreed to a one-year contract worth $1.79 million, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. It has $620,000 in guaranteed money. That’s only a bit more than the $1.17 minimum salary for a player of Gainwell’s experience.

The news of the Steelers signing Gainwell was first reported on Tuesday night, but without contract figures.

The deal does not represent much of a raise for Gainwell, who earned $1.055 million while with the Philadelphia Eagles last season. He also earned several weeks worth of playoff bonuses, including $171,000 for helping the Eagles with Super Bowl LIX.

The Steelers have now committed $10 million to cornerback Darius Slay, $10 million over two years to linebacker Malik Harrison and $150 million over five years to wide receiver DK Metcalf since the start of the free agency period. The details for the contract for new cornerback Brandin Echols and center Ryan McCollum have not been reported.

The Steelers have also added a placeholder of $5.35 million on their salary cap rolls for running back Jaylen Warren, after tendering him a contract as a restricted free agent.

Until the full details of the multi-year contracts handed out this week are revealed, the full salary cap picture for the team cannot be calculated.
