Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it’s whether or not the Steelers should actually consider the idea of playing both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields at quarterback.
Head coach Mike Tomlin opened the possibility of doing just that on Tuesday, when he said he’s undecided about the quarterback situation this week, but that it’s certainly possible that both players could play against the New York Jets on Sunday Night Football.
It’s been a long time since that’s been done with regularity in the NFL, but it has happened. The Miami Dolphins of the early 1980s even made it to the Super Bowl with David Woodley and Don Strock rotating at quarterback.
Is that a plan with some merit for the Steelers?
Alan breaks it down.
