🏈 The Steelers-Ravens playoff game averaged 22.07 million. It’s a Prime Video all-time NFL high, but it fell short of the 24 million-plus streaming record from the Chiefs-Steelers and Ravens-Texans Christmas games on Netflix.
🏈 With the season just ending, Russell Wilson is not taking anytime off. He’s back on the grind already.
🏈 Over the past five years, 70 teams have made it to the postseason. Among those qualifiers, Tomlin’s Steelers teams have ranked 58th, 64th, 67th and 68th in QBR, according to Matt Williamson of Steelers.com.
🏈 Former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky said things won’t change in Pittsburgh until there’s a switch at quarterback.
“They don’t have a chance to meet the standard until they have a quarterback that can elevate the standard,” Orlovsky said on ESPN’s NFL Live.
🏈 Former Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said he could see Mike Tomlin with the Dallas Cowboys.
“I know that Tomlin’s got two years left, we can get into that whole thing, but you know, not that the Cowboys are like the Steelers’ rival, but they are in terms of like they want to be America’s team. We are America’s team. I could, I feel like that’d be a place that Tomlin would want to go. Like it’s the Big D, it’s the big defense, he’s a defensive guy. I’d see him wearing Cowboys hats to press conferences,” Roethlisberger said on his Footbahlin podcast.
🏈 Ben Roethlisberger chimed in on the Steelers’ quarterback situation.
“I think another thing that needs to be bounced around at the quarterback position is, I would go to Russ and be like, hey, are you willing to take $20-25 million for a year or two? If he says yes, then I would bring him back. If he says no, then I would go to Justin [Fields],” Roethlisberger said. “Not let Justin know what I asked Russ, but ask would you be willing to take $15-20 million for a year or two? While you’re bridging and trying to find, while you’re still actively looking for a rookie quarterback or a young quarterback who would be your guy. If both those guys say no, I would try and find a way. Is there another guy available? A name that might need to get thrown around is Sam Darnold now.”
🏈 Ben Roethlisberger also called out Broderick Jones.
“You’ve got to figure out what happens at your tackle spots. People are gonna get on Dan Moore and Broderick Jones for the amount of sacks they’ve given up. Broderick needs to step it up. I’ve watched the film, and I’ve watched him make mistakes. Quite a few mistakes. He’s still growing, and he’s learning, but he can’t continue to make mistakes,” Roethlisberger said.
🏈 Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy thought the Steelers electing to receive the ball first in Saturday night’s game was disrespectful.
“The first thing I thought when it happened was desperate. … This is disrespectful. We were all kind of pissed off about that. … We stood on business. It was belt to ass. Their defense getting almost 300 yards rushing on them. I’d be pretty embarrassed if that happened to me,” Van Noy said.
🏈 Chase Daniel would like to see the Steelers do a total rebuild.
“You look at Russell Wilson, yeah, he didn’t play great down the stretch. He played well in the second half. But does he come back? Justin Fields is a free agent. Russell Wilson is a free agent. They don’t have a quarterback. Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren are both free agents as well. It’s like, what do you do?” Daniel said on the Scoop City podcast. “I think it’s time for a total rebuild. You have to find the quarterback of the future. You cannot put a Band-Aid over the quarterback. That’s been the issue for Mike Tomlin since he’s really [not had] Ben Roethlisberger. Since he’s left, they haven’t had a quarterback.”
