🏈 Derrick Bell of Steelers Now’s comp for Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden’s is former Steelers wide receiver Santonio Holmes. Golden had a pre-draft visit with the Steelers on Thursday.
🏈 The NFL Physicians Society awarded the Arthur C. Rettig Award for Academic Excellence to UPMC and Pitt Neurosurgery’s David Okonkwo, MD, PhD, team neurosurgeon for the Steelers, for his groundbreaking research presented at the NFLPS Scientific meeting. Findings from Dr. Okonkwo’s research will help advance how concussions are managed both in the NFL and other settings.
According to the NFLPA, Dr. Okonkwo’s “Fencing Response Following Concussion and Recovery Time, Concussion Severity, Outcomes in Professional American Football Players,” provides essential information that aids the team physician in the management of concussions and represents a great example of the power of the extensive and detailed NFL Injury Surveillance System database.
🏈 Adam Schefter of ESPN thinks Aaron Rodgers still has the Vikings on his mind.
“I do think he’s been waiting in the back of his mind for Minnesota,” Schefter said on ESPN Milwaukee.

🏈 WPXI: On Tuesday, the NFL, the Pittsburgh Steelers and VisitPittsburgh announced the launch of the Source Program. It allows small, medium and large businesses in 10 counties to apply to be a part of the NFL Draft. And, the NFL is looking for everything — from food trucks to golf carts to services such as security.
🏈 Mason Rudolph received a ringing endorsement from Ben Roethlisberger.
“Mason [Rudolph] can get the guys the ball,” Roethlisberger said on his Footbahlin podcast. “Mason can throw the ball. That’s never been a question. He can make decisions and get the ball out of his hand. He’s not afraid to take shots down the field, either.
“That’s one of the things I think that, as you’ve watched Mason when he was here and then in Tennessee, he’s not one of these guys that gets nervous and just wants to get the ball out his hands right away. He’ll sit in there, and he’ll throw it down the field. I think that’s what you’ve got to do when you have George Pickens and DK Metcalf. Those are deep down the field type guys.”
