🏈 Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson and his wife Ciara recently opened the “Why Not You” Center in Shadyside, in partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania.
“Coincidentally, his wife, Ciara — obviously her superstardom is obvious — but her past is, she grew up as a Boys and Girls’ Club kid in Metro Atlanta, so she had that passion for the organization,” said Chris Watts, president and CEO of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania, via KDKA.
“So, I said, ‘We’ve got to get connected to Russ, to invite him in, to be a part of what we’re doing here locally in Pittsburgh and see how they can contribute and support.'”
🏈 Former Steelers free safety Ryan Clark is concerned with the Steelers defense, especially with DeShon Elliott revealing what is going on in house.
“When you ask DeShon Elliott a question and you say, ‘Hey man, what could be better?’ You know what you say? ‘I gotta play better. Yeah, I gotta make this tackle. I gotta make this hit. I gotta communicate better. Now we’re getting to the room and we lock them doors. We could throw hands if we got to, right? Because we’re gonna find a way to win. And even Cam Heyward, because what happens is when you say 10 guys do their job, but one doesn’t, that ain’t good enough. You know what my next question is who? And so, what you can’t do is when you’re losing, you can’t let folks into your house like that,” Clark said on Friday’s First Take. “Like, if you got a problem with your significant other, you got a problem with your, with your significant others, we might knock this house down, but when we walk outside, we gonna act right. I feel like the Pittsburgh Steelers aren’t keeping family business, family business. But that’s what losing does.”
🏈 Former NFL defensive end Chris Long said he doesn’t take the Steelers seriously as a playoff team:
“Ironically, they’ll probably play the Texans. That’s probably the only team I think they can beat in the AFC,” Long said on his Green Light with Chris Long podcast.
🏈 Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated thinks Steelers rookie center Zach Frazier is one of the biggest draft steals:
“Further down the line, I’d go with Steelers second-round pick Zach Frazier. Internally, Pittsburgh feels like he’ll soon be one of the NFL’s best centers, and he’s helped to stabilize an area of the field that’s been a trouble spot for the Steelers for years,” Breer wrote.
🏈 NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger broke down the Steelers poor communication on defense against Kansas City.
🏈 Friday marked the 49th anniversary of the creation of the Terrible Towel.
