Pittsburgh Steelers left tackle Dan Moore Jr. has agreed to an enormous contract on the first day of the free agent contract period, as he’ll head to the Tennessee Titans on a four-year deal per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Moore and the Titans agreed to a four-year deal worth $82 million, and $50 million guaranteed. That comes out to an average annual value of $20.5 million per season, which will currently tie Moore as the eighth-highest paid tackle in the NFL.

Moore signing such a significant contract could net the Steelers a third-round pick compensatory pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, though that could be offset by the Steelers own free agent dealings.

The free agent market for Moore was expected to be robust, after several of the top potential free agents re-signed with their clubs. A report by Jordan Schultz of Bleacher-Report on Monday morning said that the price tag for Moore could be the biggest surprise of the day, with the market for the Steelers tackle “red hot.”

Moore, 26, has started 66 of a potential 68 games at left tackle for the Steelers over his four years with the team. The Steelers are expected to move 2023 first-round draft pick Broderick Jones over to left tackle to replace Moore, with 2024 first-round pick Troy Fautanu set to return from the knee injury that limited him one game as a rookie and play at right tackle.

That has meant the writing has been on the wall for a while in terms of Moore’s exit from the Steelers.

The Steelers deciding to move on from Moore might lead some to believe he’d have a soft free agent market, but was appear to be the case. Moore started as the fifth-ranked tackle in the free agent class, according to Pro Football Focus. But that was before the Los Angeles Rams re-signed Alaric Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens re-signed Ronnie Stanley.
