Developing Story: Steelers OL Coach Adrian Klemm Expected to be Hired By Oregon

Steelers Adrian Klemm

Steelers offensive line coach Adrian Klemm is expected to be hired by the University of Oregon for the same role in Eugene, Adam Rittenberg of ESPN reports.

New Ducks Head Coach Dan Lanning will land Klemm, who has multiple west coast ties in the recruiting grounds. Klemm will finish the season as the Steelers’ offensive line coach, as Rittenberg notes, but he will not return in 2022. That means after just one season as the team’s offensive line coach, Klemm is already moving on.

After Shaun Sarrett was fired after the 2020 season, Klemm was named his successor after being the assistant offensive line coach for two seasons. While he was tasked with rebuilding an offensive line that was bare-bones to the core, the Steelers’ offensive line has been anything but pretty. With only minimal improvement throughout the season, the unit has been a disappointment.

Still, the Steelers will head to the coaching carousel in hopes of finding a quality offensive line coach. It will be Pittsburgh’s third offensive line coach in as many seasons. Klemm last coached at the college level at UCLA before coming to Pittsburgh. His return to the college level now means for the second straight season, Mike Tomlin will have to rework his offensive coaching staff.
