UNITY TWP., Pa. — The duo of Diontae Johnson and George Pickens now has a duo nickname. That name is known as ‘Gin and Juice’ and the two of them did not come up with it. It came from Twitter, and Johnson ended up liking it so much that he posted it to his Instagram story and is running with it.
Gin and Juice is a cocktail, but it is also the title of Snoop Dogg’s hit ‘Gin and Juice’, and with him being a Steelers fan, this does feel like an apt nickname for George Pickens and Diontae Johnson. Johnson ended up really liking the name, and that is why he ran with it. Johnson is the ‘juice’ part while Pickens is the ‘gin’ part of that duo.
“I didn’t come up with that nickname but once I saw it, I like it, it’s different,” Johnson said. “So, I’m going to run with it. Whoever came up with it, I love it. Kudos to them.”
Johnson is not sure why the ‘gin’ is there for Pickens, but maybe Pickens has a thought on that. Regardless, Johnson is not planning on drinking gin anytime soon. But make no mistake, those two are close-knit and looking to make some real noise as a duo this upcoming season
While George Pickens and Joey Porter Jr. have been going at in an epic battle on the side of the field, things have been much more low-key across the way. But that doesn’t mean that Kenny Pickett hasn’t been looking to Johnson this training camp. In fact, he probably has been the most productive wide receiver in Steelers team periods thus far.
They will be joined by Allen Robinson II and Calvin Austin III to round out the receiving corps that the team hopes can help Kenny Pickett take the next step as a quarterback in year two.
