Do Steelers Have a Secret Deal Done with Aaron Rodgers?
93.7 The Fan insider Jeff Hathhorn believes the Steelers and Aaron Rodgers have a secret deal in place as the fan base awaits an announcement.
It is no mystery that the Pittsburgh Steelers’ interest in Aaron Rodgers remains hot, with momentum toward an official deal appearing to be getting things toasty. However, some aren’t convinced that Rodgers isn’t “deciding” rather he is just… waiting for the right time to make it official. In fact, Jeff Hathhorn indicated on Wednesday that the deal is secretly done.
Hathhorn makes some good points and the way Art Rooney II openly spoke about a player not under contract certainly raises eyebrows. If there were a deal done–even secretly–wouldn’t the news have been broken?
Rodgers no doubt plays things close to the chest like Bruce Wayne in The Dark Knight. He keeps his media circle limited and his inner circle even more so.
There are plenty of conspiracies circulating as things take their time. Is he waiting on JJ McCarthy to blink in Minnesota? Does he really even want to play? Will he be making his announcement at his friend Pat McAfee’s event on April 9th–IN Pittsburgh?
There’s no telling truly what is going on behind closed doors and in the enigma that is Aaron Rodgers’ mind. There could very well be a handshake deal in place. There’s also that “half-percent” chance Rodgers decides to Ray Croc the Steelers out of their McDonalds handshake deal.
One thing is for sure though: we forewarned that if Pittsburgh did not solve their quarterback situation by March 10th, it was going to be a long offseason. Indeed, it has been just that for the quarterback position.
