Do Steelers Need Decision from Aaron Rodgers to Draft Plan? | Steelers Morning Rush

Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it’s the continuing indecision from quarterback Aaron Rodgers about his future.
Rodgers is basically down to one option: the Steelers. The Minnesota Vikings don’t have the opportunity for him to be a full-time starting quarterback without looking over his shoulder at first-round pick J.J. McCarthy. The New York Giants have filled their room by signing Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson. The Cleveland Browns don’t have the cap space.
But that doesn’t mean that Rodgers doesn’t have options. He could simply choose to retire. He could also wait until the summer, when someone else will certainly have a quarterback injury and he could take over in that city — while also getting to skip OTAs and minicamp.
So Rodgers is deciding, and Omar Khan and Mike Tomlin are waiting. Does it matter? Are the Steelers being harmed in any way by waiting for him to decide? Alan breaks it down.
