The Pittsburgh Steelers and Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe have become familiar during the lead-up to the 2025 NFL Draft. He’s gone to dinner with the team’s decision-makers and flashed some of the traits that make him a desirable signal-caller. ESPN draft analyst Jordan Reid believes Pittsburgh is a legitimate suitor for Milroe, who will attend the event in Green Bay.

“As far as some landing spots for Milroe, the Saints is one that’s been repeatedly talked about with him and then also the Steelers, as well,” Reid said Sunday on “SportsCenter.” “So look for him to go in the second or the third round. There is plenty of interest for Jalen Milroe.”

Milroe expressed his intrigue in playing for Mike Tomlin and the Steelers after the Crimson Tide’s pro day, where he ran a blazing 40-yard dash clocked at 4.37 seconds.

“It’s so important just to build a relationship, No. 1, and also talk ball,” Milroe said. “I just thought it was a great opportunity to be with the Steelers. … I remember watching the AFC North and the battles that they had growing up. So, now to have the opportunity to be around Coach Tomlin, I don’t take it lightly at all. If the opportunity presents itself for me to be his quarterback, I’ll take full advantage of it.”

Why is Jalen Milroe an Intriguing Quarterback?

Reid thinks Milroe’s athletic qualities resemble those of some of the most exciting passers in the league, but also touched upon the fact that Milroe must improve his short and intermediate passing accuracy.

“The one thing that scouts keep coming back to with him is just his eye-popping athleticism,” Reid said. “He’s gonna enter a very distinct group his very first year in the NFL. Those are names that include Jayden Daniels, Lamar Jackson, and also Justin Fields. You go back to that LSU game, he was absolutely terrific in that one.”

In a 42-13 win over Brian Kelly’s Tigers last season, Milroe rushed for 185 yards and four touchdowns. He completed 12 of his 18 pass attempts for 109 yards as well. Highlights from that contest are almost sure to be shown when he’s selected.

“He’s got a superpower when it comes to running the football,” Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer said of Milore after that game. “He’s not just a guy that gets first downs. He gets into the end zone. What he was able to do early on really got the ball rolling.”
