The Eagles have signed former Steelers punter Braden Mann to their active roster after he spent several weeks on their practice squad auditioning for the role of their punter. Now, he officially will join the Eagles, who have long had their eye on the veteran punter. They signed Mann to their practice squad on September 18th, and he has since played in three games, averaging 41.6 yards per punt. Mann was elevated from the practice squad three times, meaning he had to be signed to the active roster to play in a game.

Mann had been in a training camp battle with incumbent Steelers punter Pressley Harvin III. Both punters made the team’s initial 53-man roster as the Steelers sought a trade partner for one or the other. Mann was released a day later when no move materialized.

The Eagles were reportedly interested in Mann and hosted him for a workout on Sept. 4 after Pittsburgh released him. Philadelphia released 2022 punter Arryn Siposs but has called him up from the practice squad for each of the first two games, but he was disappointed, making the Eagles pivot to Mann.

When Mann left for Philadelphia and Harvin got injured, the Steelers called upon Brad Wing to fill the void. Wing did a solid job filling in for the Steelers throughout his two games in Pittsburgh. Now, Pittsburgh expects to have Wing back.
