The Philadelphia Eagles will host former Steelers linebacker Marcus Allen for a tryout, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2.
This is the first publicly known tryout that Allen has received since leaving Pittsburgh as an unrestricted free agent following the 2022 season. Philadelphia signed former Steelers wide receiver Deon Cain after a strong season in USFL with the Birmingham Stallions, including a game where he won USFL Championship Game MVP.
Pittsburgh Steelers inside linebacker Marcus Allen suffered a serious left biceps injury at the end of the team’s Week 16 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. He got surgery and was later placed on injured reserve. Allen was injured while making a tackle on the final kickoff of the game, following George Pickens’ go-ahead touchdown catch in the final minute of the fourth quarter.
On the season, Allen had 12 tackles, all on special teams. He did not played any defense, but appeared in approximately 60% of Pittsburgh’s special teams snaps. A fifth-round pick of the team in 2018 after playing for Penn State, Allen spent his entire career up to this point with the Steelers.
The Eagles have added a few former Steelers, including Terrell Edmunds. Brandon Hunt, a key member of the Steelers pro scouting staff, left Pittsburgh to head to Philadelphia. Allen, 26, is mainly a special teamer that is looking to find a foothold on another roster in that role.
