Pittsburgh Steelers inside linebacker Elandon Roberts said that he intends to finish career in the Steelers City.

In an appearance on his regular radio show on 93.7 The Fan on Tuesday, Roberts was asked by host Donny Chedrick about how he came to Pittsburgh in free agency. Roberts told the story of him taking the recommendation of his former coach Brian Flores to come to Pittsburgh, and says he wants to finish his career here.

“When Mike T called and they was on the line with my agent, Drew Rosenhaus, I was like, hey Drew, whatever we need to do to get it done,” Roberts said. “I’d love to be a part of the organization. I’ve always admired Mike T. Flo talked very highly of Mike T. … Flo was like you, in Pittsburgh, with Mike T, it’s a match made.”

Roberts went on to say that he doesn’t intend to go through free agency again.

“I look forward to retiring a Pittsburgh Steeler,” he said. “I don’t think I’m leaving Pittsburgh. I think I’m going to continue doing what I need to do for the team, but I look forward to retiring a Pittsburgh Steeler.”

Roberts is in the final season of a two-year, $7 million contract he signed with the Steelers in 2023. He will become a free agent in March if he doesn’t sign an extension with the team between the end of the season and the start of the new league year.

Earlier in the day on Tuesday, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin told the story of visiting Roberts at his Houston Pro Day in 2016. The Steelers missed on the chance to draft him then, but Roberts feels like it was a match always meant to be.

“It happened just like it should have been,” Roberts said.
