Elusive Running Back Named Best Day 2 Fit for Steelers
UCF running back RJ Harvey has been named the best Day 2 fit for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Pittsburgh Steelers will likely add another running back in the 2025 NFL Draft with Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell both set to play on one-year deals. Mason Cameron of Pro Football Focus believes that should come in the form of an elusive Day 2 back.
Cameron named UCF running back RJ Harvey the best Day 2 fit for the Steelers.
“Although he lacks the size to stand up to a full workload at the NFL level, Harvey profiles as one of the most elusive backs in college football,” Cameron writes. “That ability showed up consistently on inside-zone concepts, where the UCF standout earned the highest PFF rushing grade in the class (89.5). He is an excellent fit in a Steelers offense that racked up the third-most inside-zone runs in 2024.”
Harvey, 24, could even slip to the beginning of Day 3 since he currently ranks as the No. 125 overall player on the NFL Mock Draft Database consensus big board. But his production over the last two seasons may prevent that from happening.
The 5-foot-8, 205-pound running back rushed for 2,993 yards and 28 touchdowns during the past two years at UCF. He also had 39 catches for 505 yards and another five scores during the span.

Harvey’s showing at the NFL Scouting Combine also likely helped his draft stock. He ran a 4.4-second 40-yard dash and recorded a 38-inch vertical jump, 10-foot-7 broad jump and 16 reps on bench press.
Pittsburgh may look to add a bigger back since Harvey fits a similar mold as Warren and Gainwell, but the team is clearly looking to add speed at the position and he would fit well into offensive coordinator Arthur Smith’s offense.
Either way, it’s safe to assume the Steelers will be adding another talented running back to their room in a couple weeks.
