Mike Tomlin’s crew continued their rivalry dominance over Jim Harbaugh’s Ravens by narrowly eking out another close win at home to further increase their lead in the AFC North. Coming into this matchup, Lamar Jackson was the odds on favorite to bring home his third MVP trophy as the trigger man for one of the most explosive offenses in the entire NFL. The Steelers became the first defense this season to hold that unit to less than 375 total yards and under 20 points. With all of that considered, this was a pretty impressive day for a defensive unit that seems to be rising to the occasion as the competition stiffens.

SN analyst Derrick Bell breaks down how Pittsburgh was able to shut down the Ravens high-powered attack, highlighting specific individual performances worth noting, game plan adjustments that swung the outcome of the game in their favor as well as something to watch for when these two teams square off later this season. Now firmly in the playoff picture, the question now centers around the ceiling for this group and whether they can continue to ascend into true contenders in the AFC. So long as the defense continues to play up to their capabilities, this is going to be a tough squad to beat the rest of the way.
