Final Word: What to Do About NFL Officiating Problem
One of the major storylines coming out of the Pittsburgh Steelers 20-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars had next to nothing to do with the Steelers or Jaguars, as the officiating crew that worked the game made itself a storyline with several questionable decisions.
It started early, with a pass interference penalty against James Pierre that gave the Jaguars three points and continued throughout the game, with inconsistent applications of the roughing the passer rule, and multiple huddles for calls that the officials didn’t seem confident in themselves.
The one that really drew some ire was an offsides penalty against offensive lineman Isaac Seumalo on a Chris Boswell field goal that again cost the Steelers three points. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said he “hadn’t seen that called in 17 years of standing on the sideline.”
So what can be done about the NFL officiating situation? Alan Saunders of Steelers Now joined Jenna Harner, Rob Rossi and Justin King on The Final Word on WPXI to discuss that, as well as break down the Steelers loss to the Jaguars, and more from around the world of Pittsburgh sports.
