The Buffalo Bills have released two-time Super Bowl winning wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling, the team announced on Tuesday, and the Pittsburgh Steelers could be among the teams interested in the veteran wide receiver.

Valdes-Scantling, 30, spent two seasons with the Chiefs, winning a pair of Super Bowl rings. He signed with the Bills as a free agent this offseason, but was released on Tuesday after Buffalo acquired wide receiver Amari Cooper from the Cleveland Browns in a trade.

As a vested veteran, Valdes-Scantling is free to sign with any club he chooses and is not subject to waivers.

The 6-foot-4, 206-pound wide receiver was never a big part of the passing game in his two seasons in Kansas City. In 2022, he caught 42 of 81 targets for 687 yards and two touchdowns. This past season, he caught 21 of 42 passes for 315 yards and one touchdown.ย

In his two Super Bowl games, he had a combined three catches for 20 yards, though one was for a go-ahead touchdown against the San Francisco 49ers in February.

South Florida Bulls wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling (11) receives the ball and rushes for a 75 yard touchdown during the game against the East Carolina Pirates on Saturday September 30, 2017 at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium in Greenville, North Carolina.

Valdes-Scantling was a fifth-round draft pick of the Green Bay Packers in 2018 out of South Florida and was thrust into a significant role as a rookie, starting 10 games. He played four consistent seasons with the Packers, posting between 430 and 690 yards each year.

The Steelers have been searching for a wide receiver to put opposite George Pickens since trading Diontae Johnson in March. The team did not show any obvious interest in Valdes-Scantling when he was a free agent for most of the offseason, and itโ€™s not clear if theyโ€™ll be interested this time around.

Valdes-Scantling could fine room back with the Chiefs, who are without Rashee Rice, who is on the injured reserve list, or perhaps he could reunite with Aaron Rodgers on the Jets, who have already acquired Davante Adams, but are also looking to trade Mike Williams.
