PITTSBURGH — Five Pittsburgh Steelers missed practice on Wednesday as the team began its preparations for its Week 5 home game against the Dallas Cowboys, and another two were limited, while two players were full participants for the first time since being injured.

Outside linebackers Nick Herbig and Alex Highsmith, running backs Cordarrelle Patterson and Jaylen Warren and tight end MyCole Pruitt were all held out of practice. Quarterback Russell Wilson and nose tackle Keeanu Benton were limited. Guard Isaac Seumalo and outside linebacker Jeremiah Moon were full participants.

At running back, Harris was a full participant on a Wednesday for the first time in three weeks, though the Steelers were not in pads. Harris had been dealing with some kind of right arm injury, but was not held back in this practice session. With both Warren (knee) and Patterson (ankle) out, Aaron Shampklin was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster, and La’Mical Perine was added to the practice squad, giving the team four backs for practice on Wednesday.

At outside linebacker, Highsmith has already been ruled out for this Sunday’s game against the Cowboys. Head coach Mike Tomlin said on Tuesday that he expects Herbig to be able to play, but he was held out of Wednesday’s practice. The team did get Moon back from the injured reserve list, opening his 21-day practice window as a full participant.

Along the offensive line, Isaac Seumalo was a full participant at left guard for the first time since his preseason pectoral injury. His work there shifted Mason McCormick over to right guard, McCormick confirmed after practice.

Tight end MyCole Pruitt has yet to practice since his knee injury two weeks ago, while Keeanu Benton was limited at nose tackle with an ankle injury.
