Five Steelers Players Out for Steelers Preseason Game vs. Bills, Two Return
Five Pittsburgh Steelers players are out for their second preseason game of 2024 against the Buffalo Bills. Two returned from injury.
PITTSBURGH — Five Pittsburgh Steelers were held out of the team’s second preseason game of the 2024 season against the Buffalo Bills at Acrisure Stadium on Saturday.
Cornerback Beanie Bishop was a surprise absence, as he was in street clothes during warmups. He participated in Thursday’s joint practice with the Bills and did not appear to be injured during the session.
Thomas Graham and Cam Sutton are the other slot cornerbacks on the roster. Sutton is suspended for the first eight weeks of the regular season, but is eligible to play in the preseason.
Center Nate Herbig will miss the game with a major shoulder injury that is expected to have him miss multiple weeks. Zach Frazier worked with the first team in warmups, and Ryan McCollum moved up to the second team.
Wide receiver Roman Wilson remains out with his left ankle sprain. He has not practiced since the first day of pads at training camp on July 30. Running back Jonathan Ward, who suffered a hamstring injury late in training camp and did not practice on Thursday, is also out.
The Steelers are getting two players back from injury, as starting cornerback Donte Jackson is dressed after missing three straight practices this week with an undisclosed injury. He was a limited participant in practice on Thursday, but is dressed and worked with the first-team, defense in warmups. Alex Highsmith (groin) is also dressed after being limited in practice this week.
