Former Pittsburgh Steelers OLB Makes Return to Pro Football

Former Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker Delontae Scott is back in profession football, signing a contract with the Birmingham Stallions of the UFL, the league announced in its transactions report for Monday.
Scott, 28, will play his third season of spring football. He previously played for the San Antonio Brahmas of the XFL and later UFL in 2023 and 2024.
The Steelers signed Scott to their practice squad on Sept. 7, 2021, and spent the rest of the season with the team, appearing in one game. He was re-signed for 2022, and played in two games before being released on Sept. 27.
After his release by the Steelers, he spent time with the Carolina Panthers in 2022, and with the Atlanta Falcons in 2023, but has not appeared in another NFL regular season game.

Scott was an undrafted free agent out of SMU that first signed with the Green Bay Packers before eventually joining the Steelers. He missed all of his rookie season with an injury and was released early in 2021 before catching on with the Steelers.
A 6-foot-5, 246-pound native of Irving, Texas, Scott played five seasons at SMU. He broke out in his redshirt senior season in 2019, recording 10 sacks, 39 tackles and 18 tackles for loss in 13 games for the Mustangs.
Scott will join wide receivers Deon Cain and Jalen Camp, tight ends Jace Sternberger and Marcus Baugh, tackles Christian DiLauro and Jarron Jones, defensive tackle Carlos Davis, linebackers Kyahva Tezino, Tae Crowder and Chapelle Russel, safeties Tre Norwood and Kenny Robinson and cornerback Madre Harper as former Steelers on the Stallions.
Birmingham started the season 1-1, with a road loss to the D.C. Defenders on March 30 and a win at the Michigan Panthers on April 4. The Stallions’ home opener at Protective Stadium in Birmingham is this Friday at 7 p.m., against the Arlington Renegades on FOX.
