Former Steelers LB Devin Bush to Sign With Seattle Seahawks

Former Steelers inside linebacker Devin Bush will leave Pittsburgh after four seasons after he reportedly struck a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks following a visit, according to Bob Condotta of the https://twitter.com/bcondotta/status/1636608323742216192?s=20″>Seattle

Times.

Bush spent much of his four years in Pittsburgh maligned after suffering a torn ACL in his sophomore campaign against the Cleveland Browns. From there on, his play would worsen as he was thrown into a rotation with Myles Jack and Robert Spillane in 2022.

Bush, 24, was the Steelers’ first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft when the team traded up with the Denver Broncos to select him out of Michigan with the No. 10 overall selection. He never lived up to the billing of that draft pick in four seasons in Pittsburgh. Bush started 15 games in a promising rookie season in 2019, but he never recovered his form after an ACL injury caused him to miss most of the 2020 season.

At training camp, Bush seemed to be okay with it being his last year in Pittsburgh. He never sweated the idea of being in a contract year, instead opting to look for the fact that teams would still be interested in a player of his pedigree. As such, Devin Bush ripped into any inkling that there could be a concern, citing the business side of the game.

“It’s the business,” Bush said. “I mean, I’m gonna still be in the NFL. So, we’ll see.”

The Steelers have brought back other players after declining their fifth-year option, including 2018 first-round pick, strong safety Terrell Edmunds. But their previous decision to cut him loose, his lack of playing time down the stretch, and the Steelers making a move to bring in former Washington Commanders linebacker Cole Holcomb and former Miami Dolphins linebacker Elandon Roberts on Thursday made a reunion between Bush and the Steelers all but fiction.

Now, he will have an opportunity to work with Pete Carroll in Seattle. After losing Cody Barton to free agency and with Jordyn Brooks recovering from a torn ACL, Bush seems to be in line for a potential starting job.
