Who the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback will be for the 2025 season remains up in the air as the team continues to wait for Aaron Rodgers to make a decision. Former offensive coordinator Todd Haley shared what he believes to be the ideal scenario at quarterback.

Haley believes the Steelers should do whatever it takes to convince Rodgers to come to Pittsburgh.

“The best answer is still, to me, finding a way to come to terms with Aaron Rodgers,” Haley said on “SiriusXM NFL Radio.” “I think Pittsburgh would be a perfect place for him from a perception standpoint and from a place to win. Rodgers is the best case scenario.”

Rodgers did prove to have some good football left in him in 2024, completing 368 of 584 passes (63.0%) for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

Convincing him to join the Steelers is easier said than done, though. Rodgers seems to be just fine with taking his time to weigh his options. Although, his options decreased by one team on Wednesday when the Minnesota Vikings officially pulled out.

That leaves just the Steelers and New York Giants as suitors for Rodgers. If that is the case, the answer seems to be easy for the 41-year-old who is likely looking to go somewhere that gives him the best chance to win.

However, the more time that passes, the more likely it’s about money. The Steelers could always raise their offer to help ensure they land Rodgers, but if they’re not willing to do that, the waiting game will continue.

Pittsburgh is taking the risk of losing Rodgers. That would leave quarterback Russell Wilson as the next likely option.

Haley thinks that would be a mistake.

“If it’s Russell Wilson coming back around, it’s very hard for me to get excited if they just rewind and do what they did,” said Haley.
