Former Steelers WR Antonio Brown

Just about everyone who watches the Pittsburgh Steelers has expressed some level of frustration with offensive coordinator Matt Canada over his tenure, and you can now count former Steelers wide receiver among those who said so publicly.

In a post on X on Sunday, Brown said that if the Steelers “don’t score over 20 points Today Matt Goes back to Canada. … OC AB”

Of course, the Steelers don’t play on Sunday. Their Week 2 game is against the Cleveland Browns on Monday Night.

Brown has never been a coach or coordinator at any level, but his ownership of the Albany Empire arena football team this spring was certainly an adventure. He fired several coaches, promised to play for the team but never did, then failed to make necessary payments to the league and got the team kicked out. He’s currently being sued by his former players.

Under Canada, the Steelers scored 20 points 16 times in 35 regular-season games. They have finished 21st and 26th in scoring in the NFL in his two seasons as offensive coordinator.

Last Sunday’s seven-point game against the San Francisco 49ers was the team’s second-worst output under Canada. They scored three points against the Buffalo Bills last October.

Canada is, of course, from Indiana and lives in North Carolina — not Canada.
