Four Steelers Defenders Get Good Injury News for Giants Game

Four Pittsburgh Steelers defenders got good injury status news for the team's Week 8 game against the New York Giants.

PITTSBURGH — Four members of the Pittsburgh Steelers defense got good injury status news on Saturday for the team’s Week 8 home game against the New York Giants on Sunday Night Football.

Nose tackle Keeanu Benton, strong safety DeShon Elliott, cornerback Donte Jackson and free safety Damontae Kazee all do not have an injury status for Monday’s game.

Benton was limited in practice on Thursday with calf injury, but was a full participant on both Friday and Saturday and appears good to go. The Steelers do not have a backup nose tackle on their 53-man roster, with Montravius Adams on the injured reserve list.

Elliott missed practice on Thursday with a back injury. He was limited on Friday, but was a full participant on Saturday. Kazee suffered an ankle injury before the Steelers’ Week 5 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. He was able to play in that game, but missed the last two weeks. Terrell Edmunds is the primary backup at both safety positions.

Jackson has been dealing with an AC sprain since first suffering the injury back in the team’s Week 3 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. He has been playing through it, but he missed extensive time during last week’s win over the New York Jets. Jackson was replaced by veteran backup James Pierre.
