From the Locker Room: Steelers’ Offense Wakes Up in Second Half

PITTSBURGH – It may not have been pretty, but it was another Monday Night Football win for Pittbsurgh.

Despite a slow start that included a rough first half for Mason Rudolph, the Steelers’ offense was able to finally get going in the second half.

Rudolph, who threw for 251 yards and two touchdown passes, shook the rust off and was able to get several receivers involved in the team’s 27-14 victory. The Steelers starting quarterback explained his mindset while struggling in the first half and what led to eventually finding his groove in the second half.

Diontae Johnson stepped up to be the Robin to JuJu Smith-Schuster’s Batman. Together they combined for 10 catches for 187 yards, proving to be the dangerous combination this offense has been looking for since the departure of Antonio Brown after last season. JuJu spoke to reporters about what it means to have Johnson playing well on the other side of the field and the depth of the entire group of receivers.

Johnson would’ve found himself in the end zone a bit earlier than he did if it wasn’t for an offensive pass interference call that was upheld following review. He expressed his thoughts on the call and his chemistry with Rudolph.

Pittsburgh now hopes to continue their offensive awakening on Sunday when the Indianapolis Colts visit Heinz Field.
