The Pro Football Hall of Fame will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the enshrinement of the 1993 class this summer, including Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Chuck Noll.

Noll was enshrined along with fellow Super Bowl winning coach Bill Walsh, quarterback Dan Fouts, running back Walter Payton and guard Larry Little back in 1993, one year after he retired from his work with the Steelers.

That class will celebrate 30 years in the hall during this summer’s enshrinement ceremony. Fouts and Little are expected to be on hand to represent the class. Noll died at the age of 82 in 2014. He is survived by his wife Marianne and son Chris.

One of the greatest coaches in NFL history, Noll won four Super Bowls with the Steelers from 1969-92 and won 209 games, which remains a team record. A Cleveland, Ohio native and former Browns player, the hiring of Noll by Art Rooney Sr. forever changed the trajectory of the franchise, with a focus on drafting and developing players and a strong defense remaining core tenets of the club’s success to this day.

“The operative word with Coach Noll was patience and all bought into that,” former Steelers executive Joe Gordon said. “The combination of Noll having ultimate authority and the scouting department headed by Art Rooney Jr. made for a more professional team.”

Rooney Jr. is one of two Steelers contributor’s, along with Noll’s predecessor Buddy Parker, that is a semifinalist to join the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2024.

More than a dozen of Noll’s former players have joined him in football immortality in Canton.

The 2023 class, which includes Aliquippa native and Pitt alum Darrelle Revis, will be enshrined on Aug. 6.
