How Did Steelers Coverage Break Down on Travis Etienne TD?
When watching the Pittsburgh Steelers loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, there was a very specific turning point that led to defeat. The play I’m referring to is Trevor Lawrence’s 56-yard touchdown pass to Travis Etienne midway through the third quarter with the score 9-3. Whenever you see a receiver streaking down the field all alone, you immediately assume a coverage bust took place. That much is obvious.
What wasn’t immediately obvious to me was which defender was at fault.
After originally placing the blame on Damontae Kazee for taking a poor angle in what looked like Cover 2, I feel it’s best to retract that statement.
