How Has Russ Unlocked George Pickens? | Steelers Morning Rush
Steelers Morning Rush: How has Russell Wilson helped unlock George Pickens, who is now third in the NFL in receiving yards?
Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it’s how Russell Wilson has unlocked the talents of wide receiver George Pickens.
Pickens is third in the league in receiving yards through three weeks of the season, and is averaging five yards per game more than he did last season.
So how has Russ gotten the most out of the Steelers’ resident alien? It’s about more than just Wilson, though he does have the confidence to let it rip even if Pickens isn’t clearly open, and has always been best known for his deep-shot “moon ball.” But Pickens has had good games under previous quarterbacks, including his best game of the season this year, which came with Justin Fields at the helm. Arthur Smith and Pickens himself have been involved in the improvements, as well.
Alan breaks it down.
