Colts Fire Frank Reich, Steelers to Face Interim Coach
The Indianapolis Colts have fired Frank Reich, according to multiple reports. After firing offensive coordinator Marcus Brady a week ago, it is now Reich himself who found himself on the chopping block.
That will leave the Colts with an interim head coach for the rest of the season as they wade the waters for a new potential head coach. It should also be assumed that Chris Ballard, their general manager, is not all that safe either given some of the erroneous moves he has made at the quarterback position in recent years.
It will be the second coach on Pittsburgh’s schedule who will be an interim head coach. The Panthers fired Matt Rhule earlier this season, and Steve Wilks will be the interim head coach until the season commences. Not only that, but the shuffling of quarterback chairs in Philadelphia has been anything but helpful. Matt Ryan was benched for Sam Ehlinger, who now appears to be the starter for the rest of the season.
Frank Reich could find himself in many candidacies to be a quarterback coach or offensive coordinator in the offseason. If the Steelers do move on from Matt Canada, Reich has to be someone that is watched closely as well in that race. Reich helped guide Nick Foles and the Eagles on their magical Super Bowl run, but it appears things just never fully clicked in post-Andrew Luck era.
