IR Return Will Wait for Steelers Defensive Lineman

PITTSBURGH — Defensive lineman Montravius Adams was a full participant in practice on Friday, but his return from the Pittsburgh Steelers injured reserve list will have to wait at least one more week.

Adams, who is attempt to return from a left knee injury suffered in practice in October, was limited in practice on Wednesday before being a full participant on both Thursday and Friday, but the team ruled him out for this Sunday’s Week 14 game against the Cleveland Browns.

Adams has plenty of time before he must make a return. He got back practice on Nov. 27, opening this 21-day window. So the Steeler have until Dec. 18 to return him to the 53-man roster. The Steelers have three unused IR return slots.

Without Adams, the Steelers have been playing with just five players on their defensive line, and without a true backup to Keeanu Benton at nose tackle.

The team released defensive tackle Domenique Davis from the practice squad on Friday, a potential sign that Adams is close to a full return.
