Jackson, Ogunjobi Headline Five Steelers Regulars Out vs. Ravens
BALTIMORE — Starting cornerback Donte Jackson and defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi have been scratched from the Pittsburgh Steelers lineup for their Week 16 game against the Baltimore Ravens, making five regulars to miss the game with injury.
Wide receiver George Pickens (hamstring), strong safety DeShon Elliott (hamstring) and quarterback Justin Fields (abdominal) had already been ruled out.
Jackson first suffered the back injury, which he said is a pinched nerve, in Week 14 against the Cleveland Browns. He left that game, but was able to return and he played the following week against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Jackson suffered an aggravation of that injury against Philadelphia, and was unable to return to that game after hurting it attempting to shed a block. He missed the first two practice sessions of the week before being limited on Thursday and was listed as questionable.
Either James Pierre or Cory Trice Jr. will start opposite Joey Porter Jr. at outside cornerback.
Ogunjobi left the Browns game with a groin injury He returned for one play, but that was all. Ogunjobi also missed the Eagles game. He was limited in practice all three days this week before being listed as questionable.
Montravius Adams will likely start alongside Keeanu Benton and Cam Heyward, with Isaiahh Loudermilk and Dean Lowry providing depth.
Van Jefferson and Mike Williams will see elevated roles with Pickens out, and Scotty Miller is dressed yet again as the star receiver misses his third straight game.
Minkah Fitzpatrick will slide to strong safety to replace Elliott, who will miss his second game with a hamstring. Damontae Kazee will fill in at free safety.
Kyle Allen will be dressed as the lone backup to Russell Wilson at quarterback with Fields out.
