The Steelers’ first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Edmunds spent the first five seasons of his career in Pittsburgh. After the Steelers declined the fifth-year option on his contract for the 2022 season, Edmunds hit free agency for the first time last offseason. But he ended up returning to the Steelers on a one-year deal.

That won’t be happening this year. Edmunds said his goodbyes to Pittsburgh and his Steelers teammates last year, signaling that contract talks between him and the team had broken off.

The Steelers instead re-signed Damontae Kazee, who served as the team’s third safety in 2022. Pittsburgh did offer Edmunds a contract, but he instead decided to go elsewhere as he wanted a multi-year deal.

Edmunds started 75 games over five seasons in Pittsburgh and finishes his  career with had 410 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, nine quarterback hits, two sacks, five interceptions and five passes defended.

He has said that he wanted to continue his career in Pittsburgh, but the sides were unable to reach a deal on a contract.
