Steelers running back James Conner left the team’s 2020 season opener on Monday in the first half with an ankle injury, the team announced during the second half.

Conner, the Steelers’ starting running back, left the game after gaining nine yards on six carries in the first half, while the Steelers offense struggled to gain traction in early going.

The team announced that Conner was questionable to return, but he did not have his helmet on the sideline in the fourth quarter.

Benny Snell replaced Conner, started the second half and provided an offensive spark.
