Jets Could Be Without Two Top CBs vs Steelers on Sunday
The New York Jets could be without two of their top three cornerbacks against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night.
The New York Jets could be without two of their top three cornerbacks for Sunday’s Week 7 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football.
With the release of the team’s injury report on Friday, the Jets ruled out slot cornerback Michael Carter II with a back injury. Carter suffered the back injury in warmups before the team’s Oct. 6 loss to the Minnesota Vikings and also was held out of last week’s loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Isaiah Oliver replaced Carter as the team’s top-snapping slot cornerback the last two weeks and should be expected to once more against the Steelers.
At outside cornerback, D.J. Reed was listed as questionable by the Jets, despite missing all three practice sessions this week with a groin injury. He left last week’s game against the Bills with the injury. While the Jets are technically leaving the light on, it’s rare for an NFL player to miss practice all three days and then play.
Brandin Echols should be expected to replace Reed if he’s unable to play. Canadian rookie Qwan’tez Stiggers could also see some action after playing almost exclusively on special teams so far this season.
Elsewhere on the New York injury report for Sunday’s game against the Steelers, linebacker Chazz Surratt is questionable with a heel injury. He was a full participant in practice on both Thursday and Friday. Tight end Tyler Conklin is questionable with a hip injury. He practiced fully on Friday after being limited earlier in the week.
Wide receiver Davante Adams, who missed the last three games with the Las Vegas Raiders with a hamstring injury before being traded to the Jets earlier this week, is not on the injury report and is expected to play.
The Jets and the Steelers are scheduled to kick off at 8:20 p.m. on Sunday Night Football from Acrisure Stadium.
