Davante Adams is heading to the Big Apple. The New York Jets are sending a 2025 third-round pick that can become a second-rounder to the Las Vegas Raiders for the star wide receiver, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Raiders are not paying any of Adams’ remaining salary. The Jets are assuming the balance of it.

The conditional third-round pick the Jets are trading to the Raiders for Adams becomes a second only if Adams becomes a first- or second-team AP All-Pro and on the active roster for an AFC Championship Game or Super Bowl.

Davante Adams reuniting with Aaron Rodgers was the most likely scenario from the beginning.

“My biggest takeaway from conversations with teams around the league? Many involved or have checked in believe the Jets are the team that will get this trade done,” Dianna Russini of The Athletic wrote on X.

Adams, who turns 32 in December, is a six-time Pro Bowl selection and three-time first-team All-Pro. Adams was teammates with Rodgers in Green Bay for the first eight years of his NFL career.

“I’ll answer like this, if I’m going to be reunited with anybody, it would be Aaron, okay? But or be, you know, relocated, and be anywhere it would be with Aaron,” Adams said on Shannon Sharpe’s podcast in July.

“There was a lot of that stuff going on last year in the media and them asking, you know, ‘What are you going to do about this? Are you thinking about going here?’ and they talk about whatever without me even being involved in [the conversation]. And it ended up getting all the way to the point where it got in the locker room, and people was thinking that it was, you know, I was putting it out there to force (a trade). And I’m like, ‘Y’all just don’t understand man.’ You know, I hate to say it like this because it makes me sound like I’m trying to put myself on a pedestal..but when you’re the level, a certain level of player, it don’t have to come from you. And most of the time it’s not coming from you.”

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been searching for help at wide receiver since trading Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers for cornerback Donte Jackson in March. Steelers general manager Omar Khan went all-in this offseason to acquire San Francisco 49ers star Brandon Aiyuk and came up short. The Steelers were interest in Adams, but it’s unclear if he had any interested in coming to the Steel City. The Steelers spoke with Raiders representatives on Saturday prior to Sunday’s game between the two teams.

The Steelers will see Adams and Rodgers this week on Sunday Night Football.
