Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Josh Dobbs announced the launching of his ASTROrdinary Dobbs Foundation on Wednesday, a non-profit will aim to uplift children and communities at-large through educational and professional programs.

Dobbs’ foundation will also supply grants to other organizations and community outreach initiatives.

“The goals for my foundation are very simple,” Dobbs said in a press release. “We will support, encourage, and inspire all members of the community, particularly the youth – the next generation – to identify and pursue their passions; and second, we will empower them by providing opportunity and exposure. The ASTROrdinary Dobbs Foundation will be committed to opening doors of opportunity and to encourage those that we help to bring others along with them.”

The organization held its first event Wednesday with the Girl Scouts of America at the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital. They are also planning to host a charity golf outing, private movie screenings and youth football camps.

Dobbs has spent parts of five seasons with the Steelers since being selected in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He is currently an unrestricted free agent after spending the entire 2021 season on the injured reserve list with a toe injury.
