Journeyman Former Steelers DB Signs with New York Giants
The New York Giants have signed former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back Breon Borders, the club announced on Sunday.
Borders, 29, is a 6-foot, 189-pound cornerback who spent the 2020 offseason with the Steelers. Borders was signed that April as a free agent, but was released early in training camp.
The Miami Dolphins claimed him off waivers from the Steelers. He was cut by Miami that September, and caught on with the Tennessee Titans, where he saw his most NFL experience, playing in 17 games over two seasons.
The Arizona Cardinals signed him off the Titans practice squad in 2021 and he played one game there before bouncing to the Chicago Bears. Borders served a two-game suspension with the Atlanta Falcons at the start of the 2023, and then was released and he spent the rest of the season on the New England Patriots practice squad.
Before his time with the Steelers, Borders played for the Oakland Raiders, Buffalo Bills, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars and Washington Redskins after going undrafted out of Duke after the 2016 season.
In total, Borders has played in 32 games and made six starts, recording 42 tackles, one tackle for loss, one quarterback hit, one fumble recovery, one interception and seven passes defended.
