Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kordell Stewart’s son Syre has committed to the University of Colorado, his dad’s alma mater.

Syre, who plays defensive back and wide receiver at North Atlanta high school, announced the commitment on his Instagram on Friday.

Before he was dubbed “Slash” in Pittsburgh, Kordell was a dynamic quarterback for the Buffaloes.

He was named a second-team All-American in 1994, and led Colorado to wins in the 1993 Aloha Bowl and 1995 Fiesta Bowl.

Kordell passed for 6,481 yards and 33 touchdowns, while also rushing for 1,725 yards and 15 scores over four seasons in Boulder.

Dad shared the news of Syre’s commitment on Twitter Friday, and as you would expect, is excited to have his son following in his foot steps.
