The Pittsburgh Steelers knew that Cam Sutton would likely be suspended for the NFL domestic violence policy violations that committed earlier this offseason before they signed him.

Those acts, for which Sutton entered a pre-trial diversion program in the state of Florida, were judged by the league on Monday to be worth of an eight-game suspension. The minimum for violations of the domestic abuse program is six games, but Sutton is not expected to appeal the ruling, making Monday’s announcement final.

With the totality of Sutton’s legal and league jurisprudence resolved, does him being suspended without pay for the first eight weeks of the season change your mind about whether or not it was a good idea for the Steelers to bring Sutton back after the Detroit Lions cut him loose?

Alan Saunders joined Chris Carter on the Locked On Podcast to discuss the Sutton news, plus talk about what directions the Steelers might take to resolve the eight-week hole in their lineup at slot cornerback to start the season.

Alan and Chris also talked about how good the Steelers cornerback room can be, now that we know how long Sutton will be missing from it.
