Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth finished the 2022 season sixth in the NFL in receiving yards among tight ends, just outside of the top group at his position

A recent rating of all NFL tight ends by Pro Football Focus rated Freiermuth in the second tier, behind elite tight ends Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, Mark Andrews of the Baltimore Ravens and George Kittle of the San Francisco 49ers. Freiermuth was listed in the second tier, called “great with potential to become elite,” along with T.J. Hockensen, Dallas Goedert and Kyle Pitts.

What does Freiermuth need to do to make the jump from that second tier to the first one?

Alan Saunders of SN joined Chris Carter on the Locked On Steelers Podcast to discuss Freiermuth, his potential for 2023 and whether he can be one of the best tight ends in the NFL.

They also discussed the potential versatility of 2023 NFL Draft picks Nick Herbig and Spencer Anderson and how they project to fit into the team this season, and whether the NFL is heading toward a position-less future on defense.
