Mason Rudolph: Steelers Defense ‘Playing like ’85 Bears”

PITTSBURGH – The defense continued its emergence as one of the best units in football. The offense struggled early, but then made just enough plays as the mostly sloppy game marched on. After all was said and done, Pittsburgh managed yet another big win, this one to move the team’s record to above .500 for the first time this season.

While it’s a great help for the Steelers to have its defense, especially Minkah Fitzparick, generating turnovers and points off those turnovers, quarterback Mason Rudolph knows the offense still needs to do more. Rudolph joked the defense has been playing like “the ’85 Bears” in responde to Steeler Now’s question about if the success of the defense puts any added pressure on him.

It’s not a one-man effort, but Minkah Fitzpatrick is surely stepping up with his ability to turn the complexion of games. Defensive tackle Javon Hargrave loves his new teammate, explaining how Fitzparick’s knack for the ball is infectious for the rest of the defense.

Linebacker Mark Barron talked the extra jolt he feels in beating his former team and said this Steelers defense, not his Rams’ units, is the best defense he’s played on when it comes to takeaways.
