PITTSBURGH — Head coach Mike Tomlin gave the Pittsburgh Steelers a clean bill of health coming out of minicamp, which closed at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex after three days on Thursday, and heading into next month’s training camp at St. Vincent College.

Tomlin said on Wednesday that linebacker Cole Holcomb, who is returning from knee surgery and is the only Steelers player that has yet to practice with the team, will be able to work by training camp.

Several others did not participate at all or fully in minicamp, including running back Najee Harris, but Tomlin said on Thursday that he expects his entire team to be ready to go when training camp opens on July 24 at St. Vincent College.

“Been some good collective work, and good football conditioning,” Tomlin said. “It’s difficult to get in football shape without playing football and so we’ve had a good environment from that standpoint. Now it’s the challenge of building off that level of conditioning and preparation for camp, as individuals and as a collective, and so as we leave and go our separate ways, that’s kind of the messaging.”

There are a lot of things that teams hope to accomplish during four weeks of OTAs and minicamp, and with a new offense being installed by offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, there has been more work done here this past month than usual. But the most important thing is always to come away from it healthy, and it appears the Steelers have done just that this season.\
