Mike Tomlin Took Pair of Clemson Prospects to Dinner Before Pro Day

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin had a busy week. The Pittsburgh bench boss was at the Georgia pro day in Athens on Wednesday to take a look at some of the top Bulldogs prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft. On Thursday, he was back in Pittsburgh, attending the introductory press conferences of cornerback Darius Slay and wide receiver DK Metcalf at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.
By Thursday night, Tomlin was back on the pro day trail, flying to Clemson, South Carolina. That night, before the Clemson pro day on Friday, Tomlin took a couple of the most interesting Tigers draft prospects for the Steelers out to dinner.

Tomlin had a dinner with several Clemson prospects, including running back Phil Mafah and defensive tackle Payton Page. Mafah told reporters in Clemson about his dinner with Tomlin and offensive coordinator Arthur Smith.
“I got to go out and eat dinner with them,” Mafah said to reporters in Clemson on Friday. “Talk to them, pick their brains. Just had great conversation about their program, the way that they run their program. Us here at Clemson, just getting to know each other.”
Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda reported that Steelers also had Page at their dinner.
Both Mafah and Page are expected to be late-round picks or undrafted free agents. Other potential Steelers targets on the Tigers included mid-round tight end Jake Briningstool and late-round or UDFA guard Marcus Tate and safety R.J. Mickens.
