Mike Tomlin Vague About Steelers Injuries vs. Browns
PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi (groin) and cornerback Donte Jackson (back) both suffered injuries in Sunday’s 27-14 victory over the Cleveland Browns at Acrisure Stadium. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin provided a brief update after the game.
“On the injury front, we had a bunch of bumps and bruises associated with play,” Tomlin said. “I think the only thing worth mentioning (was that) Larry Ogunjobi went out with a groin in the first half and wasn’t able to return. I’ll have an update on Tuesday regarding the (other injuries). [George Pickens] was listed as questionable, we didn’t feel like he was gonna be able to play the type of number of snaps that we thought was worth putting him in an uniform, to be quite honest with you. We didn’t want a small problem to become a big problem, so we put Scotty Miller in a helmet.”
Ogunjobi suffered a groin injury in the first half. He eventually return to the game, but he played very gingerly in his limited action. He was later ruled out.
Nose tackle Keeanu Benton quickly made up for Ogunjobi’s absence as he made an impressive interception on Browns quarterback Jameis Winston in the second quarter. The Steelers offense was then able to capitalize with a touchdown drive to take back the lead.

Jackson exited Sunday’s game during the third quarter, walking to the sideline under his own power with what was later labeled as a back injury. Jackson had a patch on his back after the game.
He went into and came out of the tent, remaining on the sideline after the Steelers stopped Cleveland on downs at the Browns’ 46-yard line four plays later. Jackson was questionable to return as James Pierre took his place, but was back in action during Cleveland’s second possession of the fourth frame.
Along with a sixth-round 2024 draft pick, Jackson was acquired last offseason in a trade that sent receiver Diontae Johnson and a 2024 seventh-round pick to Carolina. Jackson has pulled in interceptions against Atlanta, Dallas, Las Vegas, Cleveland, and Cincinnati — totaling five on the season, his most in any campaign of his seven-year professional career.
