Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick will be playing for more than team success and his personal pride when he takes the field this season.

Fitzpatrick announced over the weekend that he will pledge $39 for every tackle and turnover he makes this season to KidsVoice, through his foundation Unshackled.

“This season, I’m proud to launch our  campaign to help provide better opportunities to children in need,” Fitzpatrick wrote in a statement on his pledge page. “Our campaign goal of $25,000 can only be reached with your help! You can pledge any dollar amount for every tackle I make and forced turnover the Steelers make, or you can make a one-time donation.”

KidsVoice Pa helps represent the interests of children involved in the Allegheny County Juvenile Court child-welfare system. Fitzpatrick has worked with KidsVoice for other initiatives in the past.

“Minkah is an extremely genuine person,” executive director of KidsVoice Scott Hollander told Steelers.com. “He is interested in the kids. He relates to the kids. He relates to my staff. He is just a genuine person.”

Donors of various levels can receive autographed photos, helmets or jerseys. According to his pledge page, he has raised nearly $16,000 his $25,000 goal.
