Multiple Former Steelers in Playoff Action on Sunday

Steelers CB Cam Sutton Free Agents

Multiple former Pittsburgh Steelers are in action for Sunday’s playoff games, while others have already advanced to the championship. On Saturday, players like Arthur Maulet and Ray-Ray McCloud punched their tickets to the AFC and NFC Championships. But now, more are hoping to get there.

The most notable player is Cam Sutton with the Lions. Sutton struggled to contain Mike Evans in the first half of their game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He is the Lions’ top cornerback after they gave him a three-year, $33 million contract this offseason to lure him away from Pittsburgh.

General manager Omar Khan had called re-singing Sutton a priority for the team last offseason and said contract talks were underway during the NFL Combine, but he ended up leaving.

“We think very highly of Cam,” Khan said. “Conversations have commenced. We’ll see where it goes. Just like all of our free agents, everything is on the table.”

Meanwhile, Detroit also has Tyson Alualu. Back in the offseason, Alualu noted that he was working out with Cam Heyward and other Steelers in an effort to get healthy and prepared to play once again. Alualu still lives in Pittsburgh. But over last year, Alualu started the year but was demoted to second team in favor of Montravius Adams early in the season, where Adams would start the rest of the remaining games. But Alualu never stopped working out and is now playing for Detroit.

In the Chiefs-Bills game, there is only one connection, and that is former special teams ace Tyler Matakevich. He was amped up to play against the Steelers last week in a playoff game, and the Bills came out with a win 31-17. Now, they will look to overcome their rivals, the Chiefs, in an effort to make a run to the Super Bowl.
