Saints RB Mark Ingram Suffers MCL Sprain, Out Vs. Steelers

Saints running back Mark Ingram suffered a grade two MCL sprain against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, and he will be out for 3-4 weeks, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

That timeline means that Ingram is likely to miss the Saints’ trip up to Pittsburgh in two weeks on November 13th. Without Ingram, Alvin Kamara would be in line to get more of the workload. Third-string running back Dwayne Washington is also likely to see more time for the Saints during that game.

The Steelers are still reeling from the loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, but the New Orleans game does seem like one that is winnable. Ingram’s injury hurts the versatility of the New Orleans backfield that has become a solid one-two punch between Ingram and Kamara.

Jameis Winston and Andy Dalton have also been banged up for New Orleans throughout the season, leaving questions at quarterback leading into that week as well. The Saints defeated the Raiders on Sunday 24-0 in their best display defensively throughout the entire season.

The Steelers are expected to welcome back T.J. Watt and Damontae Kazee defensively. With a new-look defense, the Saints could use Mark Ingram and anyone else’s hands on deck for what could be a much improved Steelers unit.
