While free agents cannot sign a contract with new team until free agency officially opens up on Wednesday, March 13 at 4 p.m., the legal tampering period opened on Monday at noon. The legal tampering period is a two-day gap where NFL teams are allowed to meet with and enter into contract negotiations with upcoming free agents. So, the NFL free agent deals should start rolling in already.
Any contract agreed upon before Wednesday is just a verbal agreement as the upcoming free agent’s current contract does not expire until the start of free agency. The Steelers, who already reached an agreement with former Seahawks and Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson, are in the market for a multitude of positions for NFL free agent signings.
